# How relational is the power of the State? Not to its citizens, but to other states? That is, how much of the State's power is derived from its relationship to other States? And what is its role, when so much governance lies in the superstructure outside the State (the World Bank, the IMF, celebrities, transnational nonprofits, etc.)? Then, what becomes of the myth of governmental transparency?

# What does citizenship mean when the artificiality/superficiality of the nation-state is increasingly exposed? This is, of course, a question of rhetoric and ideology--not of legal rights or social recognition, as the impact of citizenship in those realms is undeniably massive.

# How do non-normative genders and sexualities queer citizenship? And are there ways to view queers that do not relegate us to antibodies or viruses?

# How do we frame current events (read: queer rights, immigrant rights, racial justice, etc.) as history, and vice versa, without turning to the tired, alienating and lazily inaccurate parallels to slavery, the civil rights movement, and the holocaust? And how to break free of the Derridean assumption that western thought is always the ultimate truth, that we are on a constant upward sociopolitical trajectory, and that that trajectory has just found its endpoint today? (ie, "once _______ have their rights, we're done" or "everyone has been liberated")

# How does a movement proceed in concert with its concerns?:
* That the State's role is adapting in such a way and at such a speed that organizational goals & structures may need to be reconsidered.
* That fluid identities be represented within the overwhelmingly static law.
* That the alienated and disenfranchised be persuaded & organized into a system of which even the organizers remain uncertain.
